Day 2!
- Hello my ATS friends! Today for your blog post you should have taken the online safety pre-quiz we did in class yesterday.
- Think about what you learned...or if it was review for you, reflect on what your on-line experiences have been.
- Next look at this cartoon: LINK
- Finally, write a couple of sentences about what you think this means. You can include personal experience if you like. In your experience, do people act differently online than they do in real life? Why or why not?
- Don't forget to sign your post.
Thank you!
Ms. Carr

The cartoon means that no one knows who you are and you don't know who they really are. For that reason people act different online. Ben Anderson
Hey, Mrs. Carr... ok. so, for the online safety quiz, i learned nothing new, and got every question right... however, the password question stumped me for a minute. i think the cartoon means that no one knows who you are, you could be a 40 year old man talking to a 12 year old girl, and say you are 13... or anything! for that reason (knowing that no one knows who you are) ppl tend to act differently online. even me sometimes (but only in the way i write, and talk... not by who i am.)btw... it has been fun in your class for the last two days.... its a little confusing, but it is still a really great class!!! thanks for coming to teach us, and i hope you come next year!

This cartoon basically means that anybody can be whoever they want to be on the internet and you have to take their word for it because there is no way to tell otherwise. people sometimes act differently to be socially accepted by others.
for instance i could be a monkey
<(-_-)>
The cartoon is supposed to show that anyone can pretend to be someone else online. They can give you an identity, but it may not be true. A lot of the time, people pretend to be someone else because they think it's fun to have other people online think they're someone else. Also, if they convince you that they are one of your friends, you could end up accidentally giving personal information to someone you don't know.
The online safety pre-quiz was very much was review for me, I learned nothing.
CARTOON = you can become someone your not on the internet. like, you could be a dog and act like a regular person, and no one would know.
-----Denali Marsh
People will most of the time act diferrent in the internet. if you're a dog , then you're vicious on the internet , especially if you call other people "Noobs" or you can "pwn" or "own" people at the 1337 (leet) skills.

Hey Ms. Carr again i have had a lot of fun designing these web pages abd this dreaweaver is a lot simpler than the stuff we did yesterday THNX :)sincerly Andrea Walden-Sittman
This cartoon means that you don't know who the other person on the other end of the internet is since you can't see them and possibly you don't know them. Nor do they know you.

The point of the cartoon is to say that no one knows who you are and vice versa...but i disagree. It's easy for trained professionals to find out where you live, what school you go to, and what color your eyes are. So the cartoon is kind of out-dated. It should try and get the message across that the KIDS and TEENS don't know who they're talking to....but most of the people on the otherside of the online conversation are fully informed adults. But still, since most of us don't know who the other person is, we act either how we truly are, or like someone in great contrast...maybe someone we wish to be.

That basically means that you could be anyone you want to be on the internet. You could be a child predator, or something dangerous. YYou must be very safe on the internet. I personally, do not go on my space because of safety reasons. You can't even give your password to what you think is your family. If you are going to meet with someone you met on the internet, take a parent with you always! This was nothing new to me, because I try to be safe on the internet. But I could always use a refresher! :)
"On the Internet nobody knows you're a dog" means that you can fake your identity so that no one knows who you are. This also works for everyone else, so you don't really know who anyone else is. Morrigan McLean Haas
On the internet, people have no reference to who you are, except for what you tell them. They can't tell if you're a dog or a human, until you tell them. I'm Jo Kasler, 8th grade, interested in learning languages, reading fantasy books, writing fantasy books, voulenteering at my temple, voulenteering in the community, and (obsessively) watching anime and going to anime cons.
This cartoon means that when your on the internet no one knows who you really are and how you act, unless you tell them. People do act differently when they are online because they think no one knows who they really are. This lets you talk about anything without ruining you reputation.
To me, the image indicates how anonymous the internet is.

The cartoon shows that nobody you know in PERSON knows who you really are. It shows that you could be anything and people wouldn't know who you are. I know from experience that people act different online than they do in real life because sometimes they want to 'fit' in. That, though, is just like real life. ^_^

ay teacher,
The online quiz that we took yesterday was all a review for me. I know how to protect meself and to not give out information that other people can find you in the real world.
Online people can act whatever they act like but most people just act their self. When you chat to people, they cant make up what their personality is or they will sound weird. Its easier for people to act themselves so it can be faster.
I think that the cartoon means that if you talk to someone you've never met online, you don't really know who you are talking to. When people talk to you, they don't have to say who they really are. They could say they were 14 but really be 43. So, you should never give out personal information online under any circumstance.

i think it means that anybody can say they are anybody on the internet so u cant be shure u are talking to the person you think you are talking to

when you are online nobody knows who you are unless you tell them. like i have a friend who plays online with me and if i didnt know he sounded like an adult.-Reed Garmsen
The online saftey quiz was a review for me, except that I got tricked on the password question! So now I know. The cartoon means nobody knows who you are, nobody knows who anyone is , so you can not trust anybody!!!
By the way, I do believe that people act different online. They can pretend to be someone who they are not. You're not talking face to face with them, so people feel more comfortable talking to people online. (in my opinion.)

I think it means that you may have a good title online but in real life you could have a bad title. One time I was online with a guy playing age of mythology and he had a cool way of meeting people. He said he was rich and was 18, but it turned out he wasn't rich and he was a bully. I bet he did this to make me think he was a great person so he would know how it feels to be good.

Steven Colson,
I did't learn anything new on the online safety quiz. I have a good online experience over all. I've never come across anything that made me uncomfortable.I think the cartoon means, that if you don't tell people who you really are on the internet, they won't find out. This could also be dangerous though. People DEFINETELY act WAY different on the wb than in real life. Like a lot of people, like me, who aren't that social a lot of the time, are really outgoing on the internet.
it was a review a major review.
the cartoon means that nobody knows who you are.

joseph raboy-I think it means that nobody knows who you are on the internet and that you can get in the wrong situation from talking to the wrong people
