Mystery Picture Answer!

I am holding an "original 26" diameter hard drive platter from an early storage device, the Control Data Corporation 6603 Disk File Controller manufactured by Bryant-Excello circa 1967"

I was visiting a friend one day at her father's house. This was hanging on the wall of the garage and I had to get a picture! It was quite heavy. Her father used to be a programmer in the olden days (60's). She told me that when they were programing for that computer they had to take the time that the disk rotated into consideration! You can see another example of the Hard Drive here.

If you are interested in more information about that antique computer here is another link

Welcome to Web Design and the Internet. Every day we will have a few minutes of class time to write and reflect on what we learned in the Daily Blog. To get credit for your post you must put your name on it somewhere! All posts are moderated, which means they don't go live on the Internet until I read them and OK them. Today please tell me the following things in your post:
  1. What was the most surprising thing you learned today?
  2. What do you hope to learn from this class?
  3. Can you guess what I am holding in this picture?

Daily Blog for Friday

Hello ATS Web Design and the Internet students! I have really enjoyed working with you this week. It is hard to believe that our time together is almost over. Today instead of a post, I am going to ask you to take the Terms Quiz. It is very short, and when you are done you can work on your project with your team. Remember we will start presentations at 3:00. There is a lot of information on the website, and I encourage you to go over the tutorials. I have linked the quiz and the website below:

What do you think of this? Name 3 good reasons to have a computer at home.

When I was your age there was no such thing as a personal computer... Use your imagination and think of something that might exist in 10 years that is Internet related but does not exist now.

Teacher Assistant

Hello I will be Ms. Duax's Teacher's Assistant for the upcoming web design sessions. My name is Darryl Lardizabal and I will be helping you in any way I can. I started out as a web designer and then became interested in the field of graphic design. Since then, I have done many different graphic designs for several business clients. I still have know how to web design and with the added benefit of working with businesses, I am able to share some tips that will help streamline your web pages and make them accesible and simple for everyone to use. Please feel free to comment or email me (dsteven05@aim.com) with any questions you may have.

Tip #1: Elaborate web pages, though they look nice, bog down older computer systems and modems, thus it is not always the wisest choice to incorporate many graphics and pictures into your web pages. Keep them simple and to the point, especially when dealing with customers who may become impatient when waiting for the web page to download, causing you to lose to business in the long run. Remember not all clients and customers are up to date on the latest computer trends, so you must think of how to access all customers not just a select few. Access to more customers will lead to more traffic and more business.
